West MI Winter Wonderland – Seminary Version

You already heard about the ice storm we had here last weekend and early Sunday. But you may not have heard about the snow we’ve had since then, which made our area here in West Michigan a true Winter wonderland! This past Sunday night and into Monday we received a fresh coat of lake-effect snow (Actually, it finally stopped last night.), such that when we woke up Tuesday (Christmas Eve) this part of God’s creation was breathtakingly beautiful – at every turn! And when the sun came out later that morning, the view was absolutely stunning.

I am sure many photos have been posted about the views in West Michigan and in Michigan at large, but I can give you the Seminary version. No picture can fully grasp God’s handiwork at a time like this, but I hope these picture give you some idea of the grandeur of our Maker. Click on the image to enlarge it if you wish.

And we can also add a few deer pictures compliments of Prof.B.Gritters. They also came out later this day.

The deer also arrived on Christmas Eve at Sem.

And a close-up shot. They were still looking for apples under the snow.

A week ago (last Friday) we also had a new visitor (at least for me) at the back of Seminary – a possum had climbed the icy apple tree and was determined to get the remaining apples in the top. We had fun watching him slip and slide.

The possum struggled to hang on to the icy tree.

Not sure if he ever got an apple, but he sure earned it just hanging on to the tree!

The Best Worst Christmas Gifts We Ever Got | Reader’s Digest

The Best Worst Christmas Gifts We Ever Got | Reader’s Digest.

BadXmasGiftsFrom some of the staff at Reader’s Digest as well as from some RD readers comes this list of a few really bad Christmas gifts. No doubt we could all come up with our own list from our own experience.

My wife never fails to bring up the electric can-opener I gave her one year. Well, in my defense, we always tried to be practical for Christmas, giving things we truly needed not wanted. And I at least judged that to be a need that year. 🙂

Have fun with these!

Here are a few of the reader submissions:

4. A very nice sweater that someone had worn, stained, and regifted to me. —Belinda M., Orangeville, Pennsylvania

5. A donation in my name to a cause I don’t support. —Marci E., North Richland Hills, Texas

6. I got my own Christmas gift back the next year. —Carol E., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

7. A subscription to the Nutrisystem weight-loss program. —Rosemary G., LaGrange, Kentucky

8. A bar of soap. —Shirley B., Macomb, Michigan

9. A turquoise man-kini. I am 60 years old and weigh 250 pounds. —Erich P., Phoenix, Arizona
