Old Book Reviews of “Behold He Cometh”

Behold He Cometh is the popular commentary on the book of Revelation penned by Rev. Herman Hoeksema and published by the RFPA (Reformed Free Publishing Association).

Based on a series of articles “H.H.” wrote in the The Standard Bearer (1956-1961), the material was first published in book form in 1969. A second edition, which added Scripture and subject indexes, appeared in 2000.

Over the years several reviews of this title have appeared in various magazines, including, as we would expect, in the Reformed camp. Recently, a contact dropped off in a nice sleeve two such reviews, one by Rev.Louis Praamsma (a Canadian Reformed minister) from an unknown periodical and one by Dr. William Hendriksen (CRC minister and professor), which appeared in The Banner of Sept.5, 1969. The latter, you may recall, had his own helpful commentary on Revelation from an amillennial perspective – More Than Conquerors (Baker, 1939) , still in print today.

Today we post these two reviews for your reading pleasure, and partly as historical archive items (click to enlarge).
