George M. Ophoff – Calvin Seminary Days

From November of 1975 until October of 1978 Prof.Herman Hanko emeritus PRC church history professor) wrote a lengthy series (23 articles) on Rev.George M. Ophoff (1891-1962) for the Beacon Lights (PR Young People’s magazine).

I was mistaken about this series being absent from the current “BL” archives. They are in fact there, but you have to choose the “complete issue” option in the upper right-hand side of the homepage. Then you locate the issues in the span given above.

In the meantime, enjoy this page from the eighth article on Ophoff (June/July 1976 issue), which covered his years at Calvin Seminary, when the common grace debate in the Christian Reformed Church (CRC) was getting started.

By the way, because Ophoff was also ordained in the CRC (like Herman Hoeksema), his ministerial profile also appears on the CRC’s archive website.
