PRC Archives: 1948 YP’s Convention and RWH

Today for our PRC history item we feature two special photos – one from the 1948 PRC Young People’s Convention and a treasure from the early years of the Reformed Witness Hour, which, as I told you a few weeks ago, is celebrating its 75 year in October of 2016.

I would like to have some more information on the 1948 Convention picture if you can help – where is it taken, etc. I know, I can simply look in the convention booklet from that year, but that would take all the fun away. So, see what you can come up with.

As for the RWH photo, this is compliments of Mr. Don Faber, who also gave us a nice 8×10 of this for the archives. It is a music recording session in the old First church (GR) basement. See if you can identify these men (Don told me, but again, it’s more fun if you give a try first.

  5. The convention was in Hull in 1952. We are both on the picture and were married in this church in1953, just prior to the split. The convention was sponsored by Hull Y.P.S.. with help from neighboring P.R. Churches. Tim & Clarine (Kooiker) Kooima.

    • Thanks for informing us of this and confirming it, Tim and Clarine! Very helpful – and interesting too, that you were both at this convention just prior to getting married. I will make note of this on the picture.

  6. Recording session Jim Jonker at piano and Ed Ophoff at the mike.

    • You nailed it! Nice job! I appreciate your input.
